Above them the glaring sun shone down, but these soldiers would not be daunted by it. The sun was as much a part of their lives as the sand. One man though stood apart from the others, at the peak of a small dune to the west of the column, he stood; tall and proud, with a commanding presence. Rumours of War: Chapter 1The sun rose slowly into the blue desert sky, and the people of the southern city of Konir awoke to what was going to be a wonderful day. It was the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year. Today was to be a day of fun and merrymaking, games and feasting, and sights not seen for a long time. It was a child’s dream come true. Traders from distant lands, as far north as Mardruak in Northern Bellakar and all the way south to the edge of the known world in the Jungles of Anbalukkhor arrived to sell their wares.
